THE NOISE MADE BY PEOPLE
WARP
On The Noise Made By People, England's
Broadcast skillfully blends electronica with melancholy '60s Euro-pop.
The concept isn't new--Stereolab has been pushing this sound for years.
The difference is that Broadcast does it better by making the music more
interesting and more accessible. And the proof is in the pudding,
from the delicate "Unchanging Window" and "You Can Fall," to the more urgent
sounds of "Come On Let's Go" and "Papercuts." Broadcast also
puts on an impressive live show, so check them out if you get a chance.
PIGEONHOLE: Electronica meets '60s-styled Euro-pop.
CAVEATS: Although this album is filled with pop
elements, many songs are draped in melancholy--this is no "shiny-happy-people-holding-hands."
