UTAH CAROL
WONDERWHEEL
STOMPING GROUND MUSIC
If it weren't for a superb press kit sent to us
from Chicago's Utah Carol, Wonderwheel would have slipped right
under our radar. We're thankful that it didn't. This
album is an excellent collection of folksy pop-twang--Timbuk 3 meets Juliana
Hatfield on valium. If this analogy doesn't sell you on the CD, then
picture an album's worth of great songs in the vein of Yo La Tengo's "Summer."
Utah Carol has a newer CD entitled Comfort for the Traveler, but
Wonderwheel provides the best introduction to the band.
PIGEONHOLE: Smart and catchy pop-twang delivered
by one of Chicago's best kept secrets.
CAVEATS: The deadpan vocals may leave some
listeners a little numb.
