ALBUM REVIEWS

Pick of the Chick: Our Favorite Releases, 1999-Present

X
WILD GIFT (REISSUE)
RHINO

On their second album, X serves up more of the great rockabilly-influenced punk first introduced on the band's debut, Los Angeles.  Some of the highlights include "The Once Over Twice," "We're Desperate," "When Our Love Passed Out On the Couch," and "Year 1." Wild Gift isn't quite as fresh as the band's debut, but it's essential listening when you've worn out your copy of Los Angeles.  Rhino has padded this reissue with several bonus cuts that weren't available on previous releases of the album.

PIGEONHOLE: Rockabilly-influenced punk rock--not as essential as Los Angeles (the band's debut) but a great album nonetheless.
CAVEATS: Those who own the Slash reissue of this album, which also includes Los Angeles, may not want to shell out the money just to get the new bonus tracks.
